A recent study of our Mobile Lithotripsy Unit has demonstrated exceptional outcomes in the treatment of challenging lower ureteric stones located at the vesico ureteric junction (VUJ) using extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy (ESWL). Between 2019 and 2025, complete stone clearance was achieved in 31 out of 37 patients (83.8%), an impressive success rate for what is traditionally considered a difficult-to-treat group.

These results highlight not only the clinical effectiveness of ESWL in skilled hands, but also the strength of our mobile service model. By combining specialist expertise with advanced, high-quality equipment, we are able to deliver consistent, patient-centred care across a Aotearoa New Zealand, ensuring more people can access treatment closer to home. This approach reduces the need for more invasive procedures, shortens recovery times and improves the overall patient experience.

The findings reinforce Mobile Medical’s commitment to innovation, continuous improvement and excellence in service delivery. They also demonstrate our leadership in adopting effective, minimally invasive solutions that achieve strong clinical outcomes, even in complex cases.

As we continue to invest in technology, training and service accessibility, we remain focussed on improving patient outcomes and expanding access to high-quality urological care across the country. These results serve as a strong foundation for further growth and innovation within our Lithotripsy service, and reflect the dedication and expertise of our clinical teams.
